About Rickers
In
the late 1970's a young couple from British Columbia stopped
at Ricker's and asked to spend the night along the shore of
beautiful Lake of the Prairies. This was the beginning of
Rickers Campground. Thirty years later that same couple is
still making the trip from British Columbia every year and
so do more and more regulars of this world famous walleye
fishing hole.
For over 30 years this as been a family owned
and operated business. Over the years Walleye fishing became
some of the best in North America or in the world for what
we know and the campground grew with popularity. Along with
the growing campground came modern upgrades such as washrooms,
showers, laudromat, a water treatment plant and a convenience
store.
On May 1, 2006 Wayne and Sylvia Rickers finally decided to
retire. Keeping this a family run business, Clifford, Trudy,
Clifton and Shona Herman became the new owners of Rickers
Campground.
We've
really enjoyed our first year in business and made many new
friends. We are planning some campground upgrades and improvements
in the years to come. For the fisherperson, Lake of the Prairies
offers a variety of species such as Walleye, Northen Pike,
Perch, Rock Bass and Carp.
